Meet our Staff

ANDREW HAAK

Picture
Pastor of Community Formation & Discipleship
Our family has been a part of Level Ground Mennonite Church since 2014. Before coming on as staff in 2017 I served elsewhere as a youth and young adults pastor for nine years. In between this and that I worked carpentry while fitting in graduate courses. My time here at LGMC has seen me fill a few different roles, and I am grateful to be able to serve among people that I love. As far as I'm concerned, one of the greatest honours in life is being given the privilege to walk with people on their journeys and bear witness with them to what God is doing in their life.  In this season of ministry I am excited to equip and empower everyone in our church family to live out their gifts and passions as a community centred on Christ. And while this stage of life is pretty much consumed by working and parenting during my waking hours, as time allows I enjoy board games, Canucks hockey, reading, and camping.

A few things you should know about me: I love being in the outdoors, hiking, hunting, fishing, canoeing, etc. It’s where I feel connected to God and to myself. I love Jesus and I am passionate about seeing young people and families grow in their faith as they follow him. I also happen to love a cup of coffee and a good game of dodgeball, so I guess becoming a family pastor was inevitable.

I have two amazing boys, Emmett and Theodore and I am married to Alisha, who I couldn’t imagine doing life without.

I look forward to seeing you around either on a Sunday morning or at Youth Group on Wednesday evenings.

Where are you from?
I grew up in Abbotsford, BC
How did you end up at Level Ground?
I was attending West Abbotsford Mennonite Church (WAMC) from the day I was born. When WAMC merged with Wellspring Christian Fellowship and formed Level Ground Mennonite Church (LGMC), I decided to continue to call LGMC home. My time at WAMC and LGMC has been spent as a youth sponsor, singing on worship team, helping in various ministries and being on the Lead Team.
What is your favourite aspect of life/community at Level Ground?
I like that we are able to come as we are and all be welcome.
What do you do in your spare time?
I spend time with my husband, Nick, and 3 boys, Caius, Evander and Finley and our dog, Skye. I love to read, play games, cook/bake and travel.
